The Upside Dome by Gijs & Van Vaerenbergh

Behold, a dome installation at St. Michiel Church in Leuven, Belgium, composed of hundreds of metres of chain. The church in fact has no dome, so these two architects designed and installed this real size model to generate the missing dome in an interesting and unexpected manner; The Upside Dome. This beautiful and contemporary installation serves as a stark contrast to the baroque style architecture of this church.

The installation was taken down in the Autumn of 2010, hopefully some of you were lucky enough to catch it!
